Have you been instructed to walk by faith, not by sight? I think many of us have wanted to do this for themselves. And it's a great goal, because the principle comes from the Word of God.

The verse is discovered in 2 Corinthians 5:7, where Paul the Apostle is explaining our temporary home, which he interprets as the earth and our physical body. He's likening it to the incredible hope of some day dwelling in heaven with the Savior and how amazing it will be. Paul is explaining, "Yes, we know it is true but sometimes it's difficult to hope in it based on our earthly difficulties and circumstances." But Paul concludes that we can walk by faith (what we don't see) and not by sight (what we do see). Most people would all acknowledge that's what we should do. So how does that work?

Let's talk about 3 principles that will help you. Today lots of people want clarity for their lives. They to know the plan that God has for for them and also learn how to make an impact. And people also want to know how circumstances will work out.

Also, we all want to know how God help our hard situation. So is it possible to know? Should one gain at the ability to have details to these things since we are encouraged to walk by faith not by sight? Well, it depends. Here are 3 principles which are needed if you're going to do what the Apostle talked about.

1: Faith needs to rest on truth

The beginning step to walking by faith is believing that a desired outcome will happen, irregardless of what we might be facing currently. By definition, "faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) But what shall you put assurance in? Each person has goals. At times we want for something to happen and then assume it's God's will. We put our assurance in it coming about, but are sometimes disappointed when it doesn't occur.

How can this be avoided? Make certain to make the difference between something God has assured you instead of it being a personal desire. For instance, God told Abram to walk away from his country and go to a place that God would later reveal to him. Abram's faith was founded on what God promised him, not his own whim

It is difficult to know the difference from our God's ideas and our ideas, so it's important to first hand over our desires to Him and seek assurance that He is backing our decisions. Faith begins on the foundation of a God idea, not a personal whim. It's not always easy to discern, but this is a skill you can hone and you'll get better over time.

2. Faith is challenged and will present you with a choice

Shortly after you set out believing your promise, difficulties will test your decision. The Apostle realized that believing requires a choice to stand strong despite what circumstances may bring. To this point he stated in Romans 8:24, "...hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already obtained?" I don't know about you, but I don't take delight in uncertainty. It's really tough sometimes. It seems like other people around us have it easier than we do. Instead, we often think that our life is more challenging than theirs.

The verse we just read says that it's simple to have assurance in what you already see, but that doesn't require faith, does it? On the contrary, living by our faith at some point brings us right into circumstances that test our hope because things look quite the opposite of the outcome we wanted. To go back to Abram, he had faith that God the Father would provide him with a child because God had so promised. Despite the promise, God waited until Abram was advanced in years that he didn't have the human ability to father one!

In this situation, Abram had a moment of truth. Should he give up walking by faith and go by sight, or was he going to believe God to complete His promise to him? Despite Abram committing some mistakes, much like most of us do, God's lovingkingdness ultimately prevailed. Abram hoped in God and the story is now history. If you know God, you are a part of Abraham's fulfilled promise today. Faith means hoping in your promise when it seems unlikely, but hang on, because it's worth it.

3. Faith means trusting in God

Perhaps the challenging thing about walking by faith and not sight is that it requires trust. Trust isn't hard in itself, however it can be extremely difficult if you've been hurt by other people. Sometimes we anticipate God is similar to others who have said something, yet did something entirely different. We've all experienced it before. Someone that we know extends a promise to us and we expect them to complete it. But then they break their promise.

It's not easy when people change their minds and break their word, and this has an effect on our trust and confidence over time. If you don't watch out, this can also affect our ability to trust God. So what can one do about it? You must mend rebuild disrupted expectations from our past and decide to trust God anyway. Trust in God is the only way to live by faith and not by what you see. Proverbs 3:5-6 explains to:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your ways straight."

Walking by faith demands that we set aside our ideas at times and trust in Him anyway. This can be difficult, but it's well worth the chance. If you are facing a situation right now and you can't imagine how it is gonna get resolved, then choose to trust in God the best that you can. and will take the little that you can muster and do inconceivable things. All is needed is faith the size of a mustard seed.

Summary:

Do you want to walk by faith not by sight? Give attention to these 3 tips in your present situation.

-Place your faith on a promise. -Expect situations to test your belief, yet decide to believe anyway. -Invest your trust in Him, not in you.

I realize past situations can make this really difficult, and if you require additional assistance overcoming discouragement you might want to read this eBook.

Whatever you do, don't give up and continue advancing. Despite our mistakes (like Abram), He is merciful even when we aren't. (1 Timothy 2:13) Let this be your encouragement, and know that what He has promised, He is able to finish. It's what he declared to Abram, and that's what He has promised to all of us too. You can overcome!
