Metals and colors differ, including yellow, white and pink gold, or a combination, plus silver and stainless steel. Some have diamond trim, or elegant filigree on the face or the bracelet. Though they are no longer necessary for timekeeping, as many use their cellphones, they are making a comeback on the idea of fashion statements. Big business is taking advantage of this trend, manufacturing and selling them for prices never heard of in past decades. Vintages models are the rage, as are large, bulky faces, many with clear cases to show the inner workings.<br />

This trend toward vintage pieces have fueled activity on auctions. Many are being auctioned at extremely high prices. Luxurious models are selling for tens of thousands of dollars. Certain brands give a sense of prestige to own, and people are paying high prices for that privilege. A model that is used by a movie star in a popular movie causes the value of that brand to increase tremendously.<br />

Big designers have decided to take advantage of this trend and design signature pieces that make a special style statement. Some of these brands are priced without regard to price. They start at thousands of dollars and go up to tens of thousands. Some people collect a number of pieces so they can match their fashion or mood of the moment. Some have collected drawers full of different styles.<br />

Using watches as fashion accessories is a new trend that has really caught on. There are styles for everything from designer numbers to sporty styles. Anyone should be able to find something to please them. Business has grown around this trend. Both vintage pieces and new high profile designer models are proliferating.<br />
