<div class='uawarticle'>The interesting thing about people is they are predictable, and you can see that in many ways in IM emails. Over time a great many of them all seem to settle into a pattern. After a while the "great content" emails stop, and then once in a while a promotional email arrives from them. There are some powerful lessons in that for you if you want to do list marketing. If your list marketing is stumbling, then take heart because you can fix it with the right prescription. If you are in business to make money, then it only makes sense to pursue the problem and take steps to turn it around.<br />

Sure it's important to make your content and emails clear and easy to understand there are exceptions when it comes to things like long form copy. We've stated before that people are often willing to read long copy but only when it gives them really great value. The primary issue then is that internet readers are quick on the judgment but way less likely to forgive. If you need to write a lengthy piece of email copy, then proof-read it multiple times to ensure nothing is wasted or unnecessary. This is good no matter what, but the primary margin of error gets smaller as your copy gets longer.<br />

Email copy is quite a lot like sales copy in that you can't afford to waste words. We know that some marketers wrestle with the question of short or long email copy. But make sure you take this in because it is the truth: people are going to read anything so long as there's real value in it. The same thing occurs with long articles, and long articles that are well-written, engaging and provide value will be read. A great approach to writing email copy is simply sitting down and writing all of it out. Then go through it with a fine toothed comb to make as many revisions and cuts as you need to make so that it will be air tight.<br />

Most of the time you will use the language typical of copywriters which is informal and similar to normal conversation. This is why you really have to know your demographics and understand how to communicate with them. If things are very relaxed, then avoid the opposite and do not talk to them like you would talk to professionals. On the other hand, you would not want to commit the blunder of writing like that when you should not do so. If you have to be very formal and proper, then by all means do what you have to do.<br />

As we said, any person can write email because they do it every day, but marketing and promotional emails are totally different. But just like good or great copy, there is more scientific and logic than creativity and artfulness. You eventually must find your own writing voice and stay true to that because the reason for writing in your own voice is your marketing will become more unique. Also, when you are writing from your own shoes, that is when your natural power will be most apt to come through.<br />
