When setting up a new website for the purposes of lead generation, or adapting a site that doesn't have an opt-in box, consideration should be made when choosing an e-mail program.<br />

There are many excellent companies which will handle all of your mails and these programs can be built to send out a series of pre-written messages as soon as someone signs up.<br />

In most situations you can make a decision to need a double opt-in process to help protect both you and your prospects from getting penalized due to spam disputes or not. I've found requiring prospects to approve their request for some more information significantly decreases the number of leads you'll at last get.<br />

You will also want to write your follow-ups to provide quality content - not just a sales pitch. Think about it. How long do you stay subscribed to amail list that offers nothing more than a crass sales message every two days?<br />

Consider also the data you ask for when you design your opt-in box. Folks don't appreciate giving out too much info initially, but always get the subscriber's first and last names and you can also have a box for any other information pertinent to your business.<br />

So understand that your autoresponder and the e-mails you send out are at the very heart of your lead generation website. You wouldn't have a lead generation website without it. So spend a while modifying and refining this side of your system. Do not simply throw out a bunch of e-mail pitches. Relate. Grow a relationship. Ask for feedback and participation.<br />
