<div class='uawarticle'>Cortisol and adrenaline are hormones released as a response from the nervous system when there is a threat. The responsibility of these hormones is to rouse the body and ready it for emergency action. The physical response to a feeling of threat or when the balance is upset is called stress. This can build up to harmful levels that can in turn cause damages to a persons mood, relationships, quality of life and productivity.<br />

The ability of this to creep up on you makes it even more dangerous. One can easily get accustomed to it so much that its not easy to notice its effects. It has no specific signs and symptoms they can be almost anything. It presents itself differently in people and affects someones body and behavior in many ways.<br />

The condition has quite a number of signs and symptoms. The more there are the more the overload. These are divided into four categories, emotional, cognitive, behavioral and physical symptoms. You should bear in mind that signs and symptoms can be caused by some other medical and psychological problems. When warning signs are noticed, its of utmost importance that you go see a doctor who will then conduct a full evaluation.<br />

You should know when the overload limit has been reached because its bound to cause widespread damage. Every person has a different magnitude from the other. Some people have the strength to persevere but others do not have it instead they wobble when slightly frustrated or meet an obstacle. Others even flourish from the excitement caused and the challenges presented.<br />

Tolerance to this overload can depend on a number of things. These may be things like emotional intelligence, quality of relationships, general outlook on life and genetics. The support network that a person has can influence how tolerant they can actually be. A strong network support can be made up of family members and supportive friends and it helps a quite much when dealing with life stressors.<br />
<br />
Another boost to a persons tolerance level is a sense of control. There are factors that make dealing with stressful situations easy and these include self confidence, perseverance ability against challenges and ability to influence events. More of these factors are preparation, knowledge and ability of dealing with emotions, attitude and personal outlook. Those situations and pressures that cause you to be stressed are called stressors.<br />

These stressors are normally taken as negative for example when one is going through a hard relationship or an exhausting work schedule. However there are instances that make you adjust or give you demands and these are also stressful. Examples of these positive events include buying a house, going to college, receiving a promotion or getting married. These stressors also depend on your perception to some extent. A stressing thing to you may not be the same case to another person. A good example is getting stuck in traffic, this might make you tense and anxious while to someone else its a time to relax and listen to some music.<br />
<br />
Other than external factors stress can also be generated by the person affected. This happens due to not being able to accept uncertainty, self talk that is negative, expectations that are quite unrealistic, perfectionism, lacking assertiveness and pessimism. Being stressed can cause or alleviate many health problems like depression, sleep problems, skin conditions i. E eczema, obesity, pain of any kind, heart and autoimmune diseases.<br />
