Unique Content Article: History Of The Scissor Lift

History Of The Scissor Lift

At first, industrial lifts were designed to assist production and manufacturing. These lifts moved people, materials and work pieces. Later, the table lift or scissor lift was developed. To assist retail and wholesale settings, this scissor lift was designed.

It is likely that you have seen a table lift in operation, even if you may not have realized it. It is basically a platform on wheels that works just like a forklift. The benefits of these table lifts is the fact that they are fast and highly mobile. The machine makes it possible to moved people and materials above the ground.

A table lift if a unique piece of machinery. What makes it so unique is that it does not use a platform with straight support to raise people and items. It also uses skid steer. A table lift is equipped with folded supports, which raise and lower the platform. These supports draw together and stretch.

A table lift can reach incredible heights, up to 62 feet. There is, of course, some variation in the heights each different make and model of scissor lift can reach. They come with either an electric or a hydraulic driving system. Either way, the ride to the top can be quite bumpy. The design of a table lift means that it is unable to travel at a constant speed. It is designed in such a way that it is slowest at the beginning and end of the extension, and fastest in the middle.

The 1970s saw the very first table lifts be designed. Improvements took place over time, with the latest models being available through the website of HertzEquip. The original design of the machine was so good, however, that it is still used today. The changes that have been made are more in relation to safety and construction materials. The concept came as a god's send for retailers that were trying to expand. It basically allowed retailers to expand upwards, simply adding a level to their store, rather than having to relocate.

To this day, they remain retailers' favorite tools because they fold up so easily, taking up almost no space, and because they are fast and efficient. It is clear why scissor lifts are so useful and luckily, finding one to either rent or buy isn't difficult either. Make sure you research the different makes and models before you choose the one you actually want. Your productivity may increase tremendously, but you do need to make sure you find a machine that is value for money. Do keep in mind that value for money and cheap are not one and the same thing.
