The online dresses are cheaper, because there's no work involved with buying them. There are no dress consultants, there are no seamstresses. Think about all the extra work that physical store does to help you find your dress, and then think about if the extra money is worth it to you. It's about Value vs. Cheap.<br />

I just purchased my wedding dress and picked out the bridesmaids dresses for my wedding. My dress and the bridesmaids dresses definitely need to have slips underneath because of the design of the dresses. I don't know how to explain what the dresses look like, but they have "picked up" at the bottom. The slip definitely brings those out and makes the dresses look fuller, while also keeping the material from sticking to your legs and making it look flat. <br />

The shop I went to offered me a few different discounts when I was buying my dress and I didn't even have to ask. I bought my dress in October and since October is breast cancer awareness month they gave me 15% off and they donated the difference to the Susan G. Omen foundation. They also told me that if I paid for my dress in full when I ordered it I would get another 5% off. <br />

As far as the dress, I would really advise you to stay away from David's Bridal. I've just heard too many horror stories, the moral of all those stories being that you get what you pay for. At the very least have a look at your local boutiques so you can compare quality and price? If you go into David's and you see something you really love, I won't say don't go for it. Just know what you're getting for what you're paying. <br />

The dress can be the biggest headache. Personally (and I recognize that this may be a little irrational since its two years out) but I would get the dress now (if you find one you like) in the size that fits your best off the rack. It can hang out in your closet until you get closer to the date, effectively alleviating some of the stress. Make sure you call tailors and find out what the lead time is for them to alter a wedding dress, and mark the date on your calendar. Finally remember, it's easy to take a dress in, hard to impossible to let it back out.<br />
