While it may be significant for you to improve your individual performance, you should not forget the importance of maximizing the performance of the company too. That is the only way to assess your overall performance.<br />

It is very crucial to take into consideration the objectives of your management and also your firm before you set your own performance goals. While trying to set goals from our employment's point of view, we need to examine what are the goals that the company or the management is vying for. When we say how to set goals while looking for employment, it's important to take care of the established performance goals set by the company for its employees.<br />

You need to think about what a company needs when you want to work for it. This means that your individual performance goals has to be with the aim to improve the performance of the company to enable it to achieve the goals sent by the company.<br />

While we plan to set our goals while searching for suitable jobs, many of us are tempted to make a common misconception. This misconception underlines the importance of appraisal to evaluate our performance on an individual basis but not on the basis of the entire work unit. There are typically job reviews every year for any job. Managers sit down to evaluate performance of the employees on the basis of their performance of the past year. Different types of forms are used for recording the performance attributes of the employees. This process may go smoothly for sometimes but may fail to help identify the performers sometimes. These annual appraisals of the employers should be the basis when we set our performance goals.<br />

While these performance appraisals are of significance, those are not the only aspect you should work at. Many times, managers fail to focus on the vital points of your performance and merely follow the pointers mentioned in the appraisal form. Hence, it is important that you should not allow your past performance reports to affect when you set the goals to improve your performance. The possibility of some unexpected developments also cannot be ignored. Hence the only way to improve your achievements would be to look forward and plan your goals.<br />

Try to set goals, like applying for 5 jobs every day. Also talk to at least 1 new person a day. These new contacts can be utilized to hunt for employment. You can also keep abreast of the developments by reading at least one article or a report in a day. All of these will help you improved your chances at the job hunt.<br />
