The fact is, mobile marketing is no more complicated than online marketing, and is actually easier in some ways. If you understand the basic concept of email marketing (i.e. promoting a business by sending messages to a list), you won't have any trouble understanding mobile marketing; only the method of delivery differs. Many businesses are just starting to discover how profitable mobile marketing can be. If you keep the following points in mind, you'll be able to cash in on this phenomenon in a big way.<br />

Be sure that you provide a line on your opt-in form for the person's cell phone number. This is obvious. It is also incredibly important that you have an opt-in within your opt-in that allows the person to decide whether or not to receive mobile messages from you. If you do not have permission to send marketing messages in this fashion but you do it anyway you can get in big trouble. Therefore you should always become authorized to do so. Don't forget that some people pay for individual texts. You don't want to be the instigator for a major hike in their cell phone bill.<br />

Remember that not everyone has the same type of phone with the same capabilities. If your messages are unreadable to a certain percentage of recipients because of a formatting problem, for example, you'll be wasting time and money. It's therefore best to send messages in a way that almost everyone will be able to read them. This can make your mobile campaigns more profitable, as you won't be sending out indecipherable messages to people. It's not hard to find out what kind of devices your opt-ins are using (ask them when they sign up), and then send messages in a compatible format. People will be grateful that you took the time to customize your messages to their needs.<br />

Branding is a little bit more involved in promotions than it is mobile marketing. Track the results you get from each message you send out to learn what is working for the recipients and what isn't. If you get more response to messages with promo codes, then use more of these. If simple branding messages or freebie information blurbs get you more positive results stick with those. Doing this will allow you to determine what you recipients respond to and what they tend to overlook. If something fails terribly, don't send it out again. Watch for these patterns and adjust your messages.<br />

The marketing landscape is always changing. While traditional methods of marketing are still around, they are widely being replaced by newer ones. Advertising through the mail was once the dominant type of marketing, and some marketers still use it. Mobile marketing is the most cutting edge type of marketing around right now. The real mobile marketing explosion is yet to come, so right now is the ideal time to make your mark!<br />
