The crawl rate for a given website means how fast Google's bots come back to check for updates and new content. Different websites have different crawl rates depending on various factors. The question is, why is it important for you get Google to drop by your site on a regular basis? What are some of the benefits of a higher crawl rate? The answer is more exposure - the higher number of times Google sends it's spiders/bots to your site, the more often your pages get indexed and ranked. There are a few small steps you can take in the right direction to ensure that Google notices what's happening on your site.

If you really want to make an impact on your search engine crawl rate make sure you optimize website photos and not just the written content. Oddly enough, poorly optimized images on your site can lead to dismal ranking. This can mean your website will have a dismal search engine crawl rate. How do you do this? There are several things that you need to consider when optimizing your images such as taking care of the "Alt Attribute", using your keyword in the file name, resizing them the right way, using the right captions, etc. Taking these simple steps will help you optimize your site's images more effectively, which will in turn contribute to your SEO efforts and increase the crawl rate of your website.

You need to make regular updates to your site's content. The problem with this is that this might mean one thing to you and something else entirely to someone else. There's no rule that says you need to update several times a day or even several times a week but new material added on a regular basis will bring positive results. Google views sites that are frequently updated as valuable and sends their bots there on a more regular basis to check for updates. This is the way that Google uses to let website owners know they've noticed them and like what they see on these sites.

Did you know all the major search engines hate Plagiarism? Google in particular hates it. But it's best to go one step further and not even reuse content from other sources - even if they are yours - so that your website content is completely unique. Google will often show its displeasure at sites that display duplicate content by lowering their search engine rankings. The new Google algorithm that determines a websites page rank is very strict in regard to content so it's more important now than ever before to be diligent about offering content that is unique to your site alone. You want to do so much more than just add original site though; you want to stand out by providing information that is valuable to readers too.

If you really want Google to crawl your website every other day or so then you're going to have to make sure your site is one that Google finds attractive. If you're looking for easy ways to improve crawl rates it doesn't get much easier than the steps mentioned above. You'll find that there are a lot of sites out there that have no idea what to do to get better optimization for their sites or why it's so important. Remember, getting the search engines like Google to send you traffic takes effort on your part, and unless and until you take such small actions towards your goal, nothing will happen.
