Every year in my video business, I am lucky enough to produce two major award events for the local chamber of commerce. During those events, I produce short videos for each award finalist that debut in front of more than 1100 people.

The exposure I get at the show is incredible but what is even more beneficial is the time I get to spend with each of the finalist companies.

Because they feel honored and enthusiastic about being a finalist, they are always willing to provide me everything I need to shoot for the awarding ceremony. This includes getting total business accessibility.

This creates an opportunity to meet with high-level executives and to learn more about the assistance I can give them with regards to marketing, training, etc.

It's pretty common for me to produce 7 finalist videos and to get business from at least 3 of them once the awards event is over. This is because I was able to speak to them and offer my services easily.

If you are ever involved with this type of community event, be sure to take some time to speak with award finalists about their other communication needs and you'll probably have a shot at gaining a new client or two. Aside from shooting the event, use the time to market your business.

Also, when the event is over, call each finalist and offer to create a DVD with just their video on it for $100 to $150. Most of them will take you up on the offer. I also add a video file option that they can upload to their website or various social media accounts for an additional $100.

You may have never thought that you can still make more out of what you have normally been doing on your video projects. The key is thinking of ways to sell your business and being creative in your approach. This way, you increase your sales and you gain more exposure for your video business.
