The pros and cons of increasing your business costs

That is a tricky question to answer depending on your circumstances. Often, it is as easy as looking about your home office and judge how organized it is if you have lots of documents or products taking up too much space.

Working 20 hour days or meeting with clients is interfering with your day to day operations could both be clues that it is time to expand. Take a full assessment and think about if the time is right for you and your business. You might want to save up for a few months before expansion to handle any unexpected costs.

If you have a home business it could result in some tax savings. When thinking about expanding, you have to think about the knock on effects on all aspects of your business. The extra cost of a lease on an office may not justify immediate expansion. You have to think about any added liabilities for your company but also think about the potential long term benefits.

If it is not financially viable to leave the home office, consider taking another room in your home and using it as an extra office. This might just be in the short term but will offer you a good opportunity to expand at a very low cost compared to renting an office space. You may even want to hire on a freelance self employed basis so you are not dealing with long term contracts and you have the flexibility to hire even more staff if it is possible.

Sometimes just simply hiring more staff will increase your business profits. Make sure that build this up slowly as remember you will need to pay these extra staff on a regular basis . Normally the additional staff will help you expand the business rather than dealing with other jobs that take up all your time. When you can put all your efforts into your business, the company can quickly increase revenues and look at long term projects.
