More companies than ever are now starting to place together proper apprenticeship schemes where young people are taken on and trained in house. This sudden rise has come as an response to employers wanting to grow talent in house and train somebody on a basic wage whilst they develop their skills.

During the recession the job market became very competitive with people competing for jobs with hundreds of others competing against them. The average salary also took a hit. It became very hard for young unskilled workers to find paid work that they could do. Apprenticeships offer young people with little work experience the chance to train for a job whilst earning some money at the same time.

Many people find apprenticeships that pay a small wage but also provide them with not only experience but also paper qualifications. The earn whilst you learn option is becoming more and more popular. The thought of being able to earn money instead of being in full time education appeals to lots of young people.

Many companies are considering apprenticeships for the first time. During tough economic times an apprenticeship is a great way for companies to train a person up rather than pay somebody a higher wage when money does not stretch that far. Generally people who start out in a business as an apprentice tend to stay within the same company for longer.

Some apprenticeships are also available through government schemes run by the learning and skills council. These apprenticeships are usually found in further education institutes. Often these apprenticeships last for one year.

If you are currently looking for an apprenticeship you might want to work with a recruitment agency in order to improve your chances of finding one, It is very important that you consider all of your options very carefully before committing yourself to an apprenticeship. Often apprenticeships take several years to complete therefore you need to be sure that you can fully commit your time.
