New standards in industrial certifications now includes environmental awareness. These standards like the ISO give importance on environmental sustainability as one of its guidelines. On the side of large format printing companies, consumers are also continually pressing for safer practices. These companies are finding out ways and marketing greener products as a result.

Different steps are already undertaken to meet this goal. The whole process of production is studied. Materials, energy sources, and recycling are being evaluated so as to meet the goal of lessening contribution to environmental destruction.

Solvent production is one of the main concerns in this industry. This does not only harm nature. They are also harmful to the body when inhaled. By favoring UV curing inks, volatile organic compounds are lessened. Aqueous and latex based inks are favorable as well.

The careless use of items leads to large amounts of waste. This does not only affect the environment but the company as well. By enforcing stricter policies and monitoring, unnecessary waste is eliminated and the company saves on its expenses.

Recycling materials are being done. This lessens waste material and use of material will be maximized. Unnecessary expenses are also avoided.

Source of energy is to be considered seriously. The energy expenditure in the production process can be lessened if clean alternative sources are used. This is a major contribution to the environment. As less polluting sources are being supported, less pollution is also created. These traditional energy sources are very expensive as well and a lot could be saved by minimizing use of them.

The SGP is the standard accrediting body for large format printing companies. By careful evaluation of company practices, the environment is protected. This also helps commercial printers to save and get more profit.
