<div class='uawarticle'>Allow me to begin by pointing out that I'm a fairly typical heterosexual male, and I write from my own viewpoint. This may be informative for you if you are female, or gay, or both, although the demographic who are likely to find this short article most interesting are guys similar to me. Now that I have the disclaimer out of the way, for many males, "polyamory" -- defined by dictionary.com as "participation in multiple and simultaneous loving or sexual relationships" -- has the appearance of a wonderful lifestyle. Is there any man who would not desire several simultaneous loving or, especially, sexual relationships? It has been said that it is a basic need of all males. At the same time, though, there are some things to take into account prior to really taking on a polyamorous lifestyle.<br />

I want to clarify now that this isn't about being unfaithful, which implies deception and dishonesty. Instead, the relationships I'm talking about will require openness and complete honesty among all parties involved. Understanding that, when you think about taking on this type of way of living, even if not permanently, the first guy you must be honest with is your own self. To be able to determine if this is something you should do, the 2 big questions you need to think about are:<br />

1. Do you have control over your jealousy? Polyamory cannot be a one-way street. If you are free to date others, your partners must be as well. Can you really have no trouble with being aware that a person you care about and have an intimate relationship with, is hanging out with others?<br />
<br />
2. Will you be comfortable being completely honest and open about all your relationships, with all your partners? This can be more challenging for most guys than they expect. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell a lady you are with that you date other women, but you need to from day one. Nothing of your various relationships should be concealed, at any time. In the end, that will not work. If someone insists on an arrangement like this, it is because they cannot control their jealousy, which will become an issue whichever side it comes from.<br />
<br />
There are various additional complications that may present themselves, nevertheless these two things will be the most important difficulties for most men. Loads of guys would like a number of partners, but cannot take it if they find out one is with another man. Nothing is wrong with feeling this way, though if you do, I doubt you are prepared to date multiple women. That's ok. If, in all honesty, your answer is "yes" to those not-so-simple questions, though, having polyamorous relationships can be a fantastic experience.<br />
