Sometimes, domestic maids are placed into a position they don't want to be. Despite an effort to please and perfect the job, there is always a chance for error and failures. Chances are, there are many. You, as an employer need to understand human nature, not the job function. When your maid just can't get it right or did something horribly wrong, you know what to do, don't do anything yet.

The first thing you should do is concentrate once you learned about the problem. Breathe deeply and don't talk yet, because for sure you're going to let out punishing words. Think it over, get a sleep and don't talk to the maid yet until you're calm. Remember that there is always a reason behind every mistake; get to it first before scolding the maid.

Domestic maids just like any employees take time to adjust to a new work. Is she new to your home? If so, you have more reasons to be more forgiving. Give her months to redeem herself. After a year has passed and you still find her problematic, you have the chance to civilly terminate your agreement and give her what is due; you're really not for each other.

If the maid is not new to the job and she commits a big mistake, it might be accidental. She still has an excuse, it is an accident, and nobody wanted it to happen. If she acts against you or becomes unprofessional, that's the time you can get mad but still, don't scold. Just give her last month salary and professionally let go, find someone suited for the job.

Domestic maids just like you and every other being on the planet is never perfect. You have the right to get mad, but you don't have the right to treat someone inconsiderably, especially if it's an honest mistake. Live life with great understanding and compassion and you live truly, happily, everyone around you does.
