Once you understand how important it is to knowing your market and what they want, then your chances of a positive Twitter experience will increase. That approach, and other considerations such as the trust factor, will allow you to have your content retweet far more often. We will talk about what you can do to help give you a better chance of getting the retweets you deserve.

Whenever somebody becomes a follower, send them a direct message and thank them for following you. If possible, and it should be, then make it a little more personal rather than like an email signature that is automatically added. If you are in the same market, and you really should be - or related, then make mention of anything possibly familiar. You are trying to show them that you are real and someone with whom they should get to know. Be sure to mention a fact on their profile that will prove you were really there. Something like that will usually generate a response, and then you they will recognize your name out of all the other tweets. You will also be sowing the seeds of trust out there, and sooner or later some of them will grow. Plus, there is nothing wrong with getting some exposure by adding your URL in all your messages. There is nothing inappropriate about this practice as you are just mentioning it without directly telling them to visit. The alternative is to contain no links to your site, and that will also be noticed, too.

Image and reputation are huge at Twitter, just like you know well-known people get retweeted more often. You see, it does take time to be established and allow others to know you. The ratio of content to promo tweets really has to be heavily weighted to content. You can also improve your chances by having done excellent market research so you understand what is valuable to your followers. The more you understand their needs as it pertains to your market, then that will obviously be helpful.

Put all the most important social icons on your sites so anybody can share it. You should get a blog, definitely, because you can integrate so much with social media. There are a number of buttons and icons available that work very well with Twitter. You want your visitors to have no trouble locating your various share icons. Check out highly trafficked blogs like Huffington Post, and you will be able to see firsthand. Remember you want to make everything as simple and painless as possible for your visitors.

We hope you will take what you have learned and go out and start working on your tweets today.
