Some people remain mum about issues that affect themselves and others, perhaps due to the negative implications they have. Some of these issues are child abuse and domestic violence. But since authorities want these victims to come out in the open, sexual abuse survivor stories have been written and published.

The common victims for these crimes are the children and women, as they have always been subject to vulnerability. But besides their natural vulnerability, much of the problem arises from the victims not knowing how to fight for justice, keeping mum about the abuses they have received.

It is quite natural to be ashamed in sharing such experience even to the authorities. But people must realize that unless they report their condition to authorities like the CPS, their chances at gaining freedom from the abuses they are enduring are actually slim.

Reading their stories will make you realize just how tough it could have been for the victims themselves. So, before you become a victim yourself, you should know how you can protect yourself. The authorities where these incidences are reported can assist you with the legal process involved with the crime.

It is necessary to get help; otherwise, the experience will affect the social aspect of the victims' lives, most probably. They will have difficulty trusting their selves and other people. They may lose their self confidence due to the shame and guilt that have remained unresolved within them.

Victims who never got help for their condition may find it difficult to build satisfying romantic relationships in the future. Or worse, they can suffer from future social trauma as well as mental disorders like depression.

Some sexual abuse survivor stories have been compiled in books, nowadays, for other people to read and be aware about. They aim to raise the consciousness of people towards the issue in an attempt to stop it for good. It is up to us how we receive these encouragements though.
