All bloggers know just how valuable a loyal reader who comes back to your blog all the time is. Building a loyal following is important because if you aren't able to build a stable base of loyal readers you won't ever be able to get consistent responses from your blogging efforts. It is the lack of focusing on the basics that cause some bloggers to fail at making their blogs sticky and increasing their reader counts. There are many things that you can do for a blog that aren't too hard to do but will make large differences in your end result.

A good way to inspire a onetime reader to turn into a loyal reader is to highlight the posts on your blog that have been the most popular. The reason those posts have gotten popular is that they offer good content and your readers need to know that. Why would you allow this content to get buried? Create a section on your blog that gives direct links to these posts so that your new visitors are able to access it. In a way this shows even first time visitors that what kind of great content you offer and it should show them that they need to keep reading you and coming back to your blog.

Give your readers more than one option to subscribe to your blog. RSS is a superb option for subscription and keeping readers informed about updates made to your blog but you need to provide other options as well, like e-mail subscriptions. Not everyone wants to use an RSS reader and there are lots of services that will e-mail your feed to them. Use one of these (free) services to offer better options to your readers.

Get on board with the social scene by making a Facebook fan page for your blog. Always give your readers the opportunity to subscribe to your blog updates through your fan page, which can be really helpful for those who don't want to mess with RSS feeds or e-mail updates. Facebook is the most popular online portal on the internet today and people spend tons of time on it so it makes sense to allow them to follow your feed through a service that they already use which simply acts as a traffic funnel for your blog or site.

In summary, from the above article we come to understand how a simple blog can be turned into a reader magnet by focusing on the smallest things. While it will undoubtedly take some time to build a big readership and see big results, what matters most is making sure that as many people discover your blog as possible. If you can create a good brand and build a strong following while giving your readers the type of content they want, there will be no stopping you.
