Maybe you've been getting your lunch given to you as you work to find a better landing page and to build a mailing list. That is all right because you have been learning valuable lessons even if the hard way. It's important that you keep learning and putting in some new approaches. A landing page design and the copy included that has lots of success in one market might not have the same effect with the others. Also remember that a huge part of success with this type of special site, or page, comes with testing. The truth is that all you've got to do is find that good sweet spot that will really exist for your audience.

Most of the call to action aimed copy on the Internet is forceful, direct and gets to the point. You need to test out a call to action that isn't as direct and not quite as commanding. There are quite a lot of people out there who are no longer appreciative of being commanded to do a certain thing a certain way at a certain time. Your call to action is better served by including words and phrases like "trying" and "learning more", etc. "Download Now" can be a major turn off for some people but "Learn More" gets the job done too and isn't nearly as forceful. It's important to remember that using words that are confusing or too vague, however, is a bad idea.

The graphics and images that you put to use on your landing page deserve some thought. Of course you want them to stand out and be noticed which helps to reinforce the action you want them to take. Use different colors, shapes and sizes when you are putting up buttons on your site. Make sure that you use the A/B split testing method for everything you do in this arena. You already know that in real estate location is what matters most; the same is true on the Internet. It's good to note, though, that most of the time things like buttons, opt-in and lead generation forms, etc are on the right side of the pages.

Obviously it is incredibly important to your success that your readers of your landing page actually trust you. We have talked about using elements and devices to help you with trust. Of course, where you apply them is also going to affect your conversions. What you need to do is make sure that anything you are hoping to use to get people to trust you should be easily visible. This means they need to be at "eye level." Don't put your testimonials, seals, awards, etc near the bottom of the page where people might not see them, put them high up on your page. It's good to put them above the fold but don't let them feel annoying to readers.

Learn as much as you can about how to design landing pages, as this can help your business a great deal. While the various marketing gurus release products on many topics, they don't usually address this, at least in detail. There are, however, several excellent and free tutorials floating around the net. There are quite a few ways to make your landing pages more compelling and profitable, and this is something well worth focusing on.
