In the past corporate videos were bland and boring and were only ever seen by a very small audience. Other than little television screens advertising products in major shops, corporate videos were almost entirely used by companies to either inform or train staff members. Most people will remember at some point having to watch a tedious health and safety video desperately trying to entertain or a company information video which would bore the audience to tears.

Over the last few years corporate videos have gone through some drastic changes but very good changes. These changes have come thanks to the internet altering the way which people do almost everything. Corporate videos have been a major part in the development and success of online shopping despite a lot of retailers originally speculating that it would fail. Corporate videos would only be seen by a relatively small number of people previously but now they are often seen by thousands depending on what the video is about.

Video sharing websites like YouTube and modern video cameras and phones have made it extremely simple for people to make videos. A company can now have their own channel whether private or public and host all of their videos on that channel for their target audience to see. This makes it much cheaper than a company having to have multiple video tapes or CDs produced too.

Corporate videos also reach their audience much faster too. Previously a video would have to be transferred to tape or CD before being posted to the audience. This would obviously take a considerable amount of time but there is no longer any need to do this. Because of the internet a video can be filmed and uploaded within seconds depending on its length. It can then be viewed by the audience just minutes after it has been filmed.

This new way of sharing corporate videos is excellent for companies as it can also help them to reach a far wider audience than before. YouTube has millions of visitors each day and good videos are watched by thousands. If even a small percentage of these people then become customers, the video has helped the company to grow.
