You should never try to work for a company that has ethics and values that do not mirror your own. It is hard to convince someone to invest in a business idea or product that you are selling if they can tell that you are not a fan of it yourself.<br />

Set a work schedule. If you don't make up office hours for yourself, you will end up working morning, noon and night. Allow yourself to have some personal free time and set a schedule similar to if you were working for a company. Your social life will still be intact at the end of the week this way.<br />

Buy organizational tools to help keep your home business on track. For example, having a pen holder by your phone will make taking down a note or phone number easy. Use a drawer organizer to find every little staple or paperclip that you need in a hurry, and buy one with a sticky note holder so you always know where to find one!<br />

If your home business runs into problems with local zoning laws, you have the option to request a variance. This can be as simple as filling out a brief form about the business and providing some basic information. In some cases, your case might be publicly heard by city or county officials before the variance is granted.<br />

Once you are up and running you may want to think about getting a sign made for your business as this is often the first thing a customer will see when they visit your home business.
