Most management teams are well aware of the importance of Health and Safety issues, and are keeping a close eye on this area. You need to protect yourself from personal injury claims by employees. Accident at work claims are on the rise. To make sure you are not caught on the wrong side of a claim, you need to make sure that you abide by the Health and Safety Laws. Protecting the wellbeing of your staff in the workplace is just good business. Companies are legally required to protect their employees under the guidelines within the Health and Safety at Work Act. Its goal is to protect employees from unhealthful and unsafe working environments and to insure that the emissions and uses of toxic chemicals are carefully monitored. The inability to bear the responsibility can lead to legal action being brought against you and a large fine.

Following the completion of the standard, your business will be issued a handbook used for training. The reason being an employee will be able to be remember on their own the various aspects the system has at any time they see must see it. It is possible that you are already adhering to some of the guidelines of the OHSAS 18001 in your health and safety policies.

If you have already been Why do we need to change? The great thing about the evaluation process is that you will not need a complete overhaul of your systems. To assess how to build upon the existing processes, with the purpose of achieving the standard, your assessor needs to have a gap analysis. By following the OHSAS 18001 guidelines ones health and safety policies will be bolstered, decreasing the probability of accidents and health risks.
