The Facebook Ad Comeback

by Diana Smith

Can you remember the last time you clicked on a Facebook ad? It was probably not to recent. Facebook ads have plummeted and are no longer seen as an attractive and trustworthy feature. The side bar is too crowded and over saturated. There is some great and recent news for businesses that advertise on Facebook. New studies have shown that ads seen on Facebook mobile are actually trusted and used. They are clicked on 13x more and earn 11x more.

The reason behind this is that sponsored stories slip into content feeds so seamlessly. They don't appear to be an ad, which is the main reason they working. It appears that users are mistaking them for content and click through to see what pages and apps their friends are using. They are also shown less ads on their mobile phone, on the web users are shown up to seven ads per page. There has been a lot of doubt and fear about Facebook mobile because the stock has dropped from it's $38 opening to around $31.50 today.

Earlier this month, Facebook has let those advertising with them specify that they want their ad to be solely for mobile. This should motivate investors if it proves effective. Speculators believe that this is going to be the revenue driver that Facebook needs right now.

Facebook is leading the way with mobile ads as it's competitors, Google + and Twitter, don't have the scale, social graph, or on-site activity to make ads as effective as Facebook.

If you have or haven't tried a Facebook ad before, now would be a good time to test out this mobile ad feature. It's brand new and most people don't know about it yet, which really gives you a head start advantage. This means less ads for them and more clicks for you. Hurry before it catches on!
