Are You Employed but Not Health Care Insured?

by Mike Hersey

Although roughly three in five uninsured Americans age 50 to 64 are employed, the number of uninsured adults among that same age continues to rise, reaching 8.9 million. Many work for employers who can not afford to offer coverage to their workers, and at some companies employees may not be eligible for employer health plans.

With that said however it is constitutional to mandate everyone buy into the health care system? The debate, discussion and negotiations have been on going the past few years with a growing concern among the American people that if legislation does pass, who will really pay for the "free" health care to those who can't afford it.

More than one in five insurance applications from individuals from age 50 to 64 are being rejected because health insurers can charge higher premiums based on age and health, and many adults in the 50-to-64 age group have difficulty securing health insurance based on thier income/finances.

Social Service Coordinators however, aids tens of thousands of older adults and disabled individuals every year through applications for Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs), Extra Help (Low Income Subsidy) and other community assistance programs. SSC contracts with top health insurers all over the country to provide FREE education and advocacy services to individuals.

Quoting Barack Obama "Making sure every America has access to high quality health care is one of the most important challenges of our time. The number of uninsured Americans is growing, premiums are skyrocketing, and more people are being denied coverage every day."

Weather you are employed or not the bottom line is, if you are a senior adult who does not have the benefits of health insurance right now there is something you are missing in the fine print, because you should and can have health insurance today. You have lived and worked hard up to this point in your life, you deserve good health to carry you through the next many, many happy years of your senior hood. If you are not sure where to begin, contact Social Service Coordinators, they are the number one health advocates in the national with a data base of over 8,000 social and private organizations ready to help you in your place of residence.

It is imperative that people stand up and be heard, the decisions being made by the law makers affect one and all, one can not afford to just let health care benefits slip away, and the fall-out affects of high, untouchable health care will leave us all destitute, and this is unacceptable as American citizens.
