It is a typical gesture to give gifts in the Singapore trade industry. A lot of stores give their customers small tokens of gratitude. Employers give incentives to their employees. Companies give gift packages to their business clients. Gift giving not only fortifies commercial relationships, but also hopes to gain allegiance from recipients. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks that it is a wholly positive act. When other people misinterpret it or if they have a hidden agenda, gift giving can become a problem.

Mass-produced corporate gift products, such as ballpoint pens, notepads, paperweights, and refrigerator magnets, are normally given by companies to their employees and to their clients. But for their shareholders and client partners, companies usually offer more extravagant products, like gadgets, gift baskets, wine hampers, and collector's item pens.

Be warned, though, that high-end gift giving Singapore gifts have consequences. The deed might be seen a bribe, especially if the item is extremely extravagant. It is usually deemed improper if the giver and the receiver belong to establishments that are in the brink of signing a new agreement together. Others might think that it's a bribe and the contract happened because of the gift even if the act is in good faith.

To avoid talk about inducement, some companies prohibit their staff to accept any gift from clients or other establishments. They forbid their staff to accept even a seemingly petty and inexpensive present, such as a coffee or lunch treat, as it may still be read as accepting a business favour, whether it is true or not.

Some Singapore organisations, meanwhile, are more lenient in their rules about accepting presents. They allow their employees to accept Singapore corporate gifts if the gifts don't go over a certain worth. As for expensive gifts, some businesses allow their employees to accept them provided the recipients would put it on record.

There is nothing wrong with giving Singapore corporate gifts when it's done in good faith. Actually, gift giving fortifies the connection between companies. But there are also times that it can attract negative attention. It's recommended to research about the other company's gift accepting rules before purchasing a gift for one of their employees.
