One of my good buddies whose name is Bob turned seventeen about a month just before I did. For his birthday celebration his father bought him a very fast sports car. He was extremely pleased and showed his new present to all his mates including myself. I believed that was a great gift and returned home to tell my parents.<br />

I now had it in my head, that I also wanted a car for my birthday. My Buddy only lived a couple of doors away from my house and my parents looked out from the window to view his new vehicle. I stated to them that I'd love a vehicle for my seventeenth birthday and my parents began to laugh and replied with, I bet you'd.<br />

Regardless of this negative comment, I truly believed they had been only joking and was convinced that they would not let me down. My birthday arrived and I opened all of their gifts. The main present they had bought me was a computer. I've to admit that it was an expensive computer, nevertheless I wondered where they had hidden the vehicle. The vehicle was not hidden, it had not been purchased.<br />

An ungrateful young man went to bed, not best pleased. I then began to take driving lessons and on the second attempt managed to pass the driving test. I came home to inform my parents of the good news. My dad congratulated me and seemed proud of my achievement. I stated that I was also extremely happy, nevertheless in reality, what was the point if I had no vehicle to drive. My father didn't reply to this comment.<br />

A few months later my eighteenth birthday was now approaching. My father told me that because this was quite a big birthday, he was preparing to invest a little more cash on my presents this year. He asked me if I had any idea of what I'd like. For the 2nd year in a row, I replied that I would adore a vehicle. Yet again he laughed and stated that he had stated a little much more, not hundreds.<br />

I truly believed that simply because it was in his words, a big birthday, and because I was now legally able to drive, that he would buy me a car. Guess what, he did not. But once more I was not impressed.<br />

I waited a couple of months after which I tried the head on method. I spoke to my parents and told them that I required a vehicle, they agreed. My dad stated that if I wanted a car, I ought to go and purchase 1. I replied that I had no cash, and he stated that I ought to begin to save up then.<br />

I started to save and had to sacrifice numerous issues. Ultimately I purchased a vehicle. It was not exactly sporty however it was my pride and joy. I washed the vehicle every weekend and I am certain that I loved it ten times more than my friend loved his car, because I had earned it.<br />

Whenever I want to attain something in life, I am aware that I have to work extremely difficult and am extremely grateful towards the lesson my parents taught me, although in the time it seemed harsh and cruel.
