Most Multi-level Marketers know that answering questions and resolving objections are two of the more vital things to master in Multi-level Marketing. Some sponsors will teach techniques and strategies for their recruits to use and replicate, but what are the core principles for overcoming a prospect's concerns effectively?

Questions and concerns usually surface when your prospect is unsure, or not certain about an issue you have shared with them. For this reason, they usually present themselves once your prospect has reviewed information on the Multi-level Marketing industry, or reviewed information on your own company. Try to think of concerns as requests for a more detailed explanation, or a request for clarification, as this is generally what they represent.

Interestingly every prospect is different and even though there are a sample of more common objections, a prospect's rationale for having the views and opinions that they have can vary from prospect to prospect. No 2 people's questions can be handled in exactly the same way. For this reason it is vital that we use a process for resolving objections, rather than repeating memorised responses verbatim.

Study this process described below:

I - Identify R - Relay I - Isolate S - Solve

Before you prepare to resolve your prospect's concerns it is good practice to make sure that you are fully clear on what the concern really is! If you start to answer a question that a prospect hasn't actually voiced then you will probably put new concerns in their mind!

IRIS is a useful tool for ensuring you have fully understood the individual's question or concern. First you identify the concern. Maybe you could ask them to clarify it for you. After they have done this, you must relay it back to them. Recap exactly what they have asked you, in your own words. To isolate the question ask something similar to "Is that the only thing that might be holding you back from ...?" Now that you have done this step you are in a much stronger position to overcome the objection, adopting feel, felt, found ("I understand why you feel that way, I felt the same, What I found was ...").

The key to solving a question or concern is to truly know the information that is of use to your contacts. If someone is worried that the pay plan looks like a pyramid then you need to be able to explain why it isn't! You will not require snappy one-liners, or witty retorts to resolve the concern, just explain the differences. The same is true for all questions, so focus on your understanding of the Multi Level Marketing industry so that you are able to share your knowledge with any prospects.
