During pre-internet days, going global for many entrepreneurs would either mean allotting a huge marketing budget or spending more time and energy than the usual. The internet has definitely changed the way people do things. It also paved way for many entrepreneurs to tap a wider audience without having to spend more than their allotted budget.

Internet marketing is the general term applied for strategies that help promote one's business online. The increasing number of people going online has given rise to these web-based marketing strategies. However, not all those who employ these practices are successful in getting sufficient site traffic and achieving targeted sales. This could be due to one or two of the following:

1. Poor quality content

Some internet marketers think that one way to get good ranking in the search engine is to publish as many articles as they could disregarding quality. This is a wrong mindset as web users are looking for relevance of your content rather than the volume. So invest your time and effort in coming up with well-written articles.

2. Becoming a spammer

When you send unsolicited emails to your clients and prospects, you are spamming. In many states in US, there's a law that could charge you for spamming. Thus, always make sure that all your contacts in your mailing list have opted in and be sure to add the opt-out option in your campaigns.

3. Using boring subject line

When sending emails to clients, you have to bear in mind that your subject line serves as your headline. Unless you want your mail to be left unread, marked as spam or ended up in the trash folder, create relevant yet interesting subject line.

4. Giving false promises

If you don't think your products or services will be able to achieve a certain set of desired results, then please avoid claiming that they can. Whether it's online or offline marketing, there's nothing more worse than false advertising.

5. Embedding incorrect or broken links

Leaving broken links unchecked will leave many of your clients and prospects frustrated. Before you publish your article or send your campaign, make sure the links work well.
