Affiliate marketing can prove to be a tough business, especially if you're just starting out with it and have no specific direction to move into. Even if you are not quite cut-out for business, you can still develop your mindset and become a force to reckon with if you desire. You have heard of Twitter, and the thing to know is that while it is challenging to do business there; it is definitely something that is doable.

As an affiliate marketer on Twitter, you should understand that the key to success with this social platform is relevancy. In short, if you deliver your Twitter messages to those who are not at all interested in it, then obviously that is a big fail. But you need to understand the extreme importance of building reputation and trust, first, before you ever start to think seriously about promotions. If it helps, try to realize that your tweets will have some kind of impact when people read them, and the impression needs to be always be positive.

Your conversations, or tweets, will have several natures - informal and just talking plus business oriented in which you have to offer useful information. One way to start turning off your followers is by even remotely appearing to be promoting something - like your affiliate product. If you want to do things right, and we know you do, then mix it up with providing URLs to helpful information. It all depends on what your marketing funnel is made up of, and that is how you integrate it with Twitter. You can be a little bit more direct but only after you have been there a while and your followers know who you are and trust you.

Perhaps affiliate marketers have such a hard time at Twitter because they forget to move outside the usual marketing mode, and you have to do that when you do anything at Twitter. Develop the mindset of viewing your followers as people rather than followers or prospects, etc. You can tweet interesting information, weird information that makes people curious, set up quick polls about something, etc. Also, show people you are interested in them, as well, and that is a powerful thing. Communicating in a positive, non-threatening way and having all those little conversations with people is how you forge connections.

What you have learned about is the basis for pretty much all that you will need to do at Twitter for your affiliate marketing. Obviously you should realize that it takes a while to create and develop positive relationships. Even if you did this for a year, your Twitter presence can become an unstoppable force. Keep an eye on the offers you send out and add targeted information to your tweets so that your followers have nothing to complain about, and are getting consistent value.
