Those who are successful at interview often have a strong background in analytical thinking and possess a good working knowledge of online marketing strategies. SEO professionals also need to be able to create in- depth reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. <br />

Depending on the type of SEO role you are applying for, sometimes it is important to go into more detail. Other actions include; creating backlink reports, internal link optimization, website copywriting, keyword research, competitor analysis, researching the latest SEO trends. <br />

The qualifications you need to work in SEO are often negotiable. Lots of SEO workers have degrees in business or marketing although this is not essential. Having previously online marketing experience is a big positive and a direct marketing background will also be beneficial. It is important to be self-motivated and have a good eye for detail. <br />

Excellent communication skills are necessary for all SEO workers as they will need to be capable of presenting their results to management on a regular basis. Working in an SEO role is often likened to 'plate spinning' as in order for a strategy to work you will need to simultaneously carry out a number of important tasks. <br />

Obviously it is essential that anybody considering a role in SEO is proficient in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.<br />
