<div class='uawarticle'>The definition of spirituality is and may always remain somewhat sparse. It is always evolving. Always changing to encompass new ideas and new age philosophies. But the truth remains that every human being is at some stage in his or her life in need of some kind of a spiritual awakening.<br />
<br />
When we are born we enter into a world that belongs to someone else. We adopt that persons world view until we are old enough to develop our own. We grow up seeing things from their perspective and having similar expectations from life.<br />
<br />
Some may say there is nothing wrong with this as many go through life unaffected, doing as there parents did, following religious customs and traditions. Some may be happy and content and have families and raise their children in this way. But it is a limited world view and it is a shame not to open the blinkers a bit wider.<br />
<br />
The world of knowledge is endless with possibilities. Each day new philosophies and schools of thought are emerging. Each one is different yet worth exploring for they carry wisdom and different ways of looking at the world.<br />
<br />
It is a shame that many do not have the opportunity to explore many of these options. There is always a chance that we may be missing something of great value. Each religious book, philosophy and doctrine holds many precious gems that can give us good guidance and advice in life. Many are accused for being flawed or contradictory, but the wisdom is still there and can be of great value.<br />
<br />
One could define a spiritual awakening as a moment of stark realization for the individual. It may be an experience of the soul, heart and mind, when everything makes sense, when human existence has purpose and meaning. The lucky ones who have gone through this, often lead more fulfilling lives.<br />
<br />
It can be experienced in several different ways. The most common is to have a near death experience or lose a loved one. It is in these moments that most people suddenly see the value and purpose in their lives and make resolve to change. However, others will argue that an awakening of this sort can only truly come about with deep understanding and knowledge.<br />
<br />
From any angle, each person is in need of his or her own spiritual awakening to find true purpose and meaning to life. It is essential that we lift the blinkers on our eyes and see with certainty for ourselves rather than swallow indoctrination by scholars. For what do we teach out children and what legacy do we leave if our own lives do not make any sense to us.<br />
