If you are a male, get rid of your facial hair. Sure, you may think that having facial hair is manly, but it hides all of your features. Most women enjoy a clean cut man, whose eyes she can gaze into and whose lips she can kiss without getting tickled by facial hair.
Have pretty nails, always. Well manicured hands and feet really polish off a look, no matter if it's professional or casual. It indicates to people that you care about yourself and your appearance. If salon prices are too hefty for your budget, soak and spiff your nails at home.
An easy moisturizer/exfoliant can be made with sugar and the citrus juice of your choice. Just mix a handful of sugar and enough lime, orange or lemon juice to make a paste. Slather the mixture on your hands in a circular motion for a few minutes. Then, wash your hands in harm soapy water and rinse well. Warning: don't do this if you have any abrasions or cuts on your hands because the acid in the juice will burn. Your hands will be soft and smooth in minutes with this method, and it costs just pennies.
Petroleum jelly can help you avoid calluses and corns on the bottom of your feet by holding in moisture- just smear a thin coat onto the bottoms of your feet after washing your feet, put on a pair of your least favorite, machine-washable socks, and relax. Don't try to run a marathon afterwards, as your feet will remain somewhat slippery. You can leave it on overnight, as long as you keep your feet in socks to prevent leaving a trail wherever you go. You can also paint it on your toenails to help strengthen them, as well.
Once your hands are clean, start with a primer. There are many different primer options, so look for one that will flatter your skin. There is primer that can tone down certain colors in your skin. One of the biggest new hairstyle trends is a variation of the traditional wet look. Classic wet looks rely on heavy gel products worked into the hair and slicked back into a tight ponytail, giving a somewhat severe effect of wet hair under strict control. The new styles, seen on runways for the last few seasons, utilize natural oils such as argan, manoi or jojoba, instead of the harsh gels of years past. The oil is smoothed into the damp hair and allowed to dry naturally resulting in loose wavy tendrils that shine and glisten in a free fall all around the head. It's a great casual daytime look that conditions the hair while producing a pleasing style. If you like a slightly un-kept and natural look, you may want to try this new trend.

If you are unsure of the type of skin or hair you have, consult a cosmetologist or your hairstylist for accurate information. You can experiment with make-up, hair color and hairstyles to find out what is the most flattering. When your appearance begins to improve, you will gain more confidence.
