Facebook and Twitter are two prime examples of developments that began some time ago, but the momentum reached a kind of critical mass fairly recently. While Facebook is a closed social network, Twitter is proving to be a great tool for Internet marketers to reach out to their target market and create long term relationships. It is the job of all businesses to seek their target audience and make themselves visible.<br />

Grow Followers by Giving Value: One method is to start following those in your niche to then have them follow you back. While these followers are your target, they are not very responsive, which is a flaw in this particular method. This approach quickly becomes "you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours". Find a way to start gaining followers that are actually worth it. Give away value! Gaining more followers happens when you tweet things people will then want to re-tweet.<br />

Finding a Real Picture: People using the internet find it difficult to trust others, so you need to use a real picture to gain their trust. People will see your real picture and realize that you aren't a scam.<br />

Having an objective: Getting followers here, then what? Having a main objective in mind before tweeting may be a good idea. Driving traffic to your Twitter page is ultimately what you want so you can drive traffic to your site. Making choices in advance on whether you are getting a lead, making a sale or having the customer call you, should be decisions you make in advance. You will have better responses if you were clear in this area.<br />

Twitter is exactly like email marketing because you have to give first and create a relationship before you can capitalize on it. It is very easy to find online marketers who say Twitter just does not work very well, and that is true if you do not play by the rules. Twitter is a unique slice of the internet, and it has special qualities that we feel do not exist at Facebook. There is still a great deal of potential with Twitter, and that means you should go there and start meeting people.<br />
